750 This volume centres on the literary activities emerging out of the north Indian publishing house Ganga Pustak Mala and its house periodical Sudha, a literary, social, political and illustrated monthly in the first half of the 20th century. Building on the defining work of Gérard Genette on paratexts as well as on scholarship on text-image relationships, this text charts the emergence and commercialisation as well as nationalisation of Hindi literary production in the city of Lucknow.
